San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks Week 16 2012

This weekend we head into week 16 of the 2012-2013 NFL season.  In a bit of a shocker, one of the best late season match-up’s comes out of the NFC West.  Not many people expected much out of the NFC West this year outside of the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers have had a great year at 10-3-1 right now, and are sitting atop the division, but the Seahawks aren’t far behind at 9-5.  Seattle definitely has to have this game to have any chance to win the division, but they are looking good for a playoff spot at least, which is definitely something that Seattle fans have to be happy about.

Quick Summary: My prediction is the San Francisco 49ers will win this game and I recommend placing your bet at Bovada.

The 49ers are coming off of a huge road win against the New England Patriots in which their offense just put up some big points.  Colin Kaepernick looks like he’s the right choice at the quarterback position, even though Alex Smith was playing some great football.  The best part of this new look 49ers offense is that they don’t rely too much on running the ball, and they can push the ball down field with the big arm of Kaepernick.  I think that this 49ers offense is looking to make some noise, and their defense is still able to shut down opponents and get to the quarterback often as well.

For the Seahawks, this offense has just been crazy lately with rookie quarterback Russell Wilson.  Wilson has been a stud the past few weeks, and the last two weeks their offense has put up 58 and 50 points.  They are showing a side of them that we aren’t used to seeing, and with how strong their offense is playing, matched with their defensive intensity, it makes them a very scary team.  I’d love to see this team in the postseason, as I think that they are likely to make a run, especially with how poised their rookie quarterback is.

Kickoff for this game is set for 8:20pm EST on Sunday night, and this is the Sunday Night Football match-up on Christmas Eve.  The game will be played in Seattle as well, and we all know about the typical home field advantage that comes when you play in front of the 12th man.

I love these big end of season games, and you can bet that the fans always get excited about the divisional rivalries that come around at the end of the year.  This one is going to be big, and the Seattle fans are going to be ready to make some noise.  I do think that they’ll play a big role in this game, but I think that the San Francisco 49ers offense is going to be able to get the best of the Seahawks’ defense when all is said and done.  Expect a close game into the fourth quarter, but for the 49ers to come out ahead by three in this big time Sunday night match-up.

Pick: San Francisco 49ers -1
